That's what I need to do. Start focussing ahead again and getting my brain in gear for the next challenge. I've got a few triathlons coming up over the summer that I have already signed up for, with the biggest challenge being the Olympic distance one at Allerthorpe in August. I did it 2 years ago and had one of my best ever races, I did it again last year and struggled to even finish it on nowhere near enough training. So, here and now I need to start making the right decisions if I want the right outcome for the race. It's the only triathlon of that length that I've entered this year, so let's try and do it right.
I made a small start yesterday by finally getting out on my tri bike for the first time in ages. I could tell how neglected the poor thing had been by the state of the tyres, they took quite some pumping up! I had my first experience of making use of our snazzy new bike shed - it's great. It was also the first time out for the new bike shoes that Daniel bought me for Christmas. I was a bit nervous in case the new cleats were stiff or tricky to get out of the pedals - I don't much like falling off! However, I was worrying about nothing and they appeared to slide in and out more easily than the old ones do. Good stuff! I only went out for just over 50 minutes, but at least I was out there. It certainly told me how much work there is to do. I might be pretty fit at the moment, but clearly not bike fit - there were different muscles commenting on what I was up to!
