Trail Shoes

It snowed really rather a lot yesterday, about three inches in quite a short space of time. So, unsurprisingly it was still around this morning. I decided to go out in my trail shoes, not really due to the uneven surface, although it did help with that, more to ensure that my shoes weren't soaked the day before I'm supposed to be tackling 20 miles! As it was, nothing was wet, it had all frozen solid overnight and the trail shoes were pretty good in the grip department. There was lots of crunchy snow and ice, a few sheer bits of ice and some softer areas of snow where it hadn't been trampled down much before the freeze set in. And my running? Pretty rubbish, slow and ploddy. Maybe I could blame it on the ground underfoot, and that was part of it, but mostly I just felt slow. I'm a bit bunged up again and the back of throat is a bit raspy, nothing serious, more annoying than anything else - there seems to have been a lot of this and I'm getting tired of it. Hmph!
