Running and Swimming

I'm not quite sure where the time has gone again this week, so I find myself writing about several sessions all at once again. Oh well, at least I'm more or less keeping up with myself.

I was out running again on Thursday, but I waited until the afternoon, choosing to go out after work instead of getting up at five to go beforehand. I was still feeling tired as a result of Tuesday's exertions and felt that the extra sleep might be of use to me on this occasion. I did the four mile loop and was surprised to see that I managed it in an acceptable time. I felt pretty tired and thought that I'd get back,. look at the watch and be less than impressed. In the end it was fine, not fast, not slow, especially when you consider how very long it seemed to take to get across some of the roads. Strange how some days that just isn't a problem and others I seem to be bobbing up and down at the side of a busy road for ages.

Then I was also out there on Friday morning. there was no question of an afternoon session there as I simply don't have the time on a Friday. I went out early, but only for the three mile route. Again I felt pretty tired but seemed to run okay all the same. Good stuff.

This morning I have been out to Scissett baths for the triathlon training coached swimming session. It was brilliant. I always really enjoy going anyway, but today I was very glad indeed that I had gone. There were only five of us there so Morgan offered to make use of his underwater camera. We got on with the sets that he had prepared for us, but then he got us one at a time into the end lane and filmed us to get a good look at what we actually do when we swim. I've been very keen for quite some time to have somebody do that for me, I would really like some feedback on exactly what I could do to improve my stroke. Morgan is planning to have a look at the footage and then email us with some pointers. That should be really useful. The swim sets themselves were good too, lots of concentration on smooth and consistent swimming. I got out of the pool feeling great, a brilliant way to spend and hour of your Sunday morning. Now I shall just look forward to Morgan's email!
